Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct outlines the rules that you need to follow to help ensure that the KapiTaler Game is fun for everyone.

1. Using the KapiTaler game and the game page

What you can and should do:

  • Be polite and treat others with respect. Just because you’re online doesn’t mean you should be a jerk.
  • Be good and fair at a game. You will not be suspended because you are too good or to fair.
  • Have fun!

2. Wheeling & Dealing

The game KapiTaler gives players the opportunity to exchange their fields (companies) on the board with other players, to buy a missing field from another player or to sell fields to other players. The player best at wheeling and dealing is likely to emerge the winner in KapiTaler. Dealing is more an art than a skill. It takes a certain understanding of the nuances of the personalities of the other players sitting around the board, as well as how your own personality comes across. The best advice is for you, try to win a good reputation as an honest player.

  • Offer and accept only fair deals that can be advantageous to both players. If you offer a deal and the other player is sceptical, simply offer the inverse deal in order to show that the player is getting a good and fair deal.
  • Each player has the right to accept or refuse the deals. Do not disturb the player if he does not want to change. It is possible that this player already has everything he needs, or he is not yet ready to trade. It is also possible that you do not have the fields, which are of interest to this player. Try to trade with other player so that you get the fields that would be of interest to the first player. Note that in the game, only one player can win, and thus your opponent has the right to refuse the exchange, if the player does not want to miss his chance to win. If you want to win a reputation as a good and interesting player, it would be better to give a chance to another player if you are in the advantage. It is possible that after this exchange your winning chance is missed, but the game becomes more interesting and exciting, if each player at least get some chance to win.
  • Do not offer your fields (companies) or the game money to another player, if you already want to give up, or is it with you to become bankrupt. You should just give up or play to the end. If you lose, your fields on the board will be free and other players will be able to buy the fields.
  • Do not ask fields or game money from another player if he is about to surrender or may soon become bankrupt.
  • Do not accept deals from players if they are going to surrender or are about to become bankrupt, if he offering you the fields you need or game money, and without requiring a good option himself.
  • Do not help another player by offering him the game money or fields without obtaining certain benefits from the exchange for yourself.
  • Do not play two vs one, for example with one player in a pair in normal games for 3 or 4 people (not VS). If it is noticed that you are playing several games in a pair, trade only with this player and do not trade with others, this behaviour will be considered as violation of the game rules and both players will be banned (exception is VS and SV games).
